Distant Lands Coffee maintains company owned farming and milling operations in Costa Rica, including Hacienda La Minita and Hacienda Rio Negro. The company also owns two mills– Beneficio Rio Negro and Beneficio Los Santos.​ All our operations, farms and mills, are certified Rainforest Alliance Certified™. All of our mills are Chain of Custody certified to sell coffee from Rainforest Alliance Certified farms.

Located in the lush Los Santos region of Costa Rica, our flagship farm is the renowned Hacienda La Minita, one of the world’s premier coffee-growing estates.

Near the Panama border, Hacienda Rio Negro is located in southern Costa Rica, in the Coto Brus growing region.
The farm is adjacent to Parque Internacional La Amistad, the largest forest-protected area in Costa Rica, and is a pillar of sustainable agriculture. The plantation was purchased in 2006 and has been totally renovated. It consists of 1,712 total acres with 703 acres in production.

Located on the Los Santos River, our Beneficio Tarrazu mill uses clean, hydroelectric power generated on the farm.

Located at the bottom of the valley at an altitude of 3,600 ft, Beneficio Rio Negro is a state-of-the-art mill, combining traditional and modern technologies.
